Carolina Panthers

Reported: January 9th, 2007

Discuss the Panthers Team Needs in the HG Forums

- Keyshaun Johnson appears unhappy with his role on the team and it's uncertain how he will fit into the Panthers plans this year. A healthy Steve Smith and a happy Johnson makes this position not as much of a team need, but the cupboard isn't stocked behind these two. Drew Carter has shown flashes but he can't seem to sustain the production. Keary Colbert hasn't been healthy for an extended period of time throughout his career and is considered a bust.

- Jake Delhomme slipped a little this year. He failed to top 3000 yards for the first time as a starter. Part of the reason was because of injuries and part was his fault. He seemed to settle for the little dumpoff passes. His 6.5 Y/A was the lowest of his career. There are whispers around Panther land that he might not be the guy to lead them to the promised land.

- The Panthers got a total of 2 touchdowns and 316 receiving yards out of the TE position for the whole year. Kris Magnum would be a backup on many teams.

- Dan Morgan's history of concussions may signal the end of his career. Diggs is a free agent and might not be back. The Panthers draft 14th in the first round and are in a great spot to land the top linebacker in the draft. Who that would be is up for grabs right now but the top LBs seem to be Paul Poluszny, Patrick Willis and Lawrence Timmons.

- The Panthers have been O.K at safety but it's time to address this spot. Age and a lack of depth are beginning to take it's toll on the secondary.
