Acquiring a wide receiver to eventually replace Rod Smith is an absolute
must for the Broncos. Smith still has a year or two left but now is
the time to get his replacement. One intriguing development is the
possibility of Terrell Owens signing with the Broncos. Denver is considered
the front runner to acquire his services but expect this to be a long
drawn out process with Owens going to the highest bidder. |

Matt Lepsis has a clause in his contract that allows him to opt out
of his contract and bolt Denver via free agency. Denver would like
to retain Lepsis and they will do all they can to keep him from leaving.
If Lepsis does leave then the Broncos are in a bit of a pickle. They
don't have any depth at the tackle position so if Lepsis leaves then
the tackle position becomes a huge priority. |

QB |

Jake had one of his best years, but he still does some questionable
things when under pressure. Gary Kubiak is often given credit for
Plummer's recent success and he is off to be the head coach for Houston.
Will Jake revert back to his Arizona days without Kubiak? Hopefully,
the answer is no, but it would behoove the Broncos to have a plan
B incase Jake begins to implode. |

DT |
- The
defensive line played much better last year than in other years but
the Broncos have some decisions to make going into this off season.
Gerard Warren is coming off one of his better seasons but he is due
a large signing bonus that the Broncos need to decide if they want
to pay. Even if the Broncos get all of that done they need to find
a DT that can get to the quarterback and sack him because the Broncos
ranked as the third worst team in producing sacks. |

- John
Lynch has had an outstanding career but age is quickly gaining on
him. He's 34 now and his best days are now behind him. The Broncos
have some young talent ready to give it a try in Sam Brandon and Chris
Young, but none of these players can hold Lynch's jock. The Broncos
will seriously consider using one of their two first round picks on
a safety. |

DE |
- The
Broncos have two defensive ends with huge salaries. Trevor Pryce is
making around 9 million and the Broncos would love to restructure
his contract. Courtney Brown is another player that the Broncos would
love to restructure. If the Broncos and Trevor Pryce can't agree on
a new contract, you may see him released. He is there best defensive
end and about the only real pass rusher they have. They would have
to find a replacement for him and quick. |
